“NONE OF THESE THINGS MOVE ME"
SOME QUESTIONS AND FEARS ALREADY BEING RAISED WITHIN THE SECULAR
BUSINESS WORLD!
How long will this last? How will it change us? When will life return to normal again? “It’s amazing
how things we cared for so deeply about mean absolutely nothing when the world is weeping,
talking about the celebrity culture and how foreign it feels in a time of panic”. On News24 There
are also questions about how this will affect car dealerships, restaurants etc going into the
future.
Acts 20:19-24 (NKJV Strong's)
“19 serving the Lord with all humility, with many tears and trials which happened to me by the
plotting of the Jews;
20 how I kept back nothing that was helpful, but proclaimed it to you, and
taught you publicly and from house to house,
21 testifying to Jews, and also to Greeks,
repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.
22 And see, now I go bound in
the spirit to Jerusalem, not knowing the things that will happen to me there,
23 except that the
Holy Spirit testifies in every city, saying that chains and tribulations await me.
24 But none of
these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with
joy,
and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of
God.”
Acts 20:19-24 (NLT)
“19 I have done the Lord’s work humbly and with many tears. I have endured the trials that
came to me from the plots of the Jews.
20 I never shrank back from telling you what you needed
to hear, either publicly or in your homes.
21 I have had one message for Jews and Greeks
alike—the necessity of repenting from sin and turning to God, and of having faith in our Lord
Jesus.
22 “And now I am bound by the Spirit to go to Jerusalem. I don’t know what awaits me,
23 except that the Holy Spirit tells me in city after city that jail and suffering lie ahead.
24 But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the
Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.”
James 1:2-4 (NKJV Strong's) Profiting from Trials:
“2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials,
3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.
4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking
nothing.”
“The determination inherent within the word hupomeno (patience) is clearly seen when it was
used in a military sense to depict soldiers who were ordered to maintain their positions even in
the face of fierce combat. Their order was to stand their ground and defend what had been
gained” Rick Renner.
James 1:2-4 (MSG)
FAITH UNDER PRESSURE:
“2 Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides.
3 You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors.
4 So don't try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature
and well-developed, not deficient in any way.”
John 16:33 (NKJV Strong's)
“33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have
tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."
2 Thessalonians 3:5 (NKJV Strong's)
“5 Now may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patience of Christ.”
FAITH & PATIENCE
1. Faith has a focused desire.
2. It knows what it wants.
3. Faith is not crowd dependent, it is of the heart.
4. It doesn’t vacillate/waiver, it remains loyal to its callings.
5. It never moves. Faith stands still in one spot.
WHY DO BAD THINGS HAPPEN?
Psalms 119:68 (NLT)
“68 You are good and do only good;Teach me your decrees.”
Isaiah 54:9-10 (NKJV Strong's)
“9 "For this is like the waters of Noah to Me;For as I have sworn
That the waters of Noah would no longer cover the earth, So have I sworn that I would not be
angry with you, nor rebuke you.
10 For the mountains shall depart and the hills be removed,But My kindness shall not depart
from you, nor shall my covenant of peace be removed,"
Says the LORD, who has mercy on you.
1. Cursed planet - e.g, earthquakes, floods, until Jesus comes
2. Satan has an opportunistic access to steal, kill and destroy
3. Failure to listen to God
4. Demon spirits controlling or working through people to do evil, people who are demonized,
5. Evil people who have evil hearts, people that won’t listen to God to change or stop doing evil!
People who may be full of anger and vengeance.
6. The worship of other gods, images & satanic rituals
THE QUESTIONS IS: WHAT DO YOU REALLY VALUE IN LIFE?
What we place value on determines where our heart is, and where our heart is determines our
response to God’s plan for our life!
Philippians 3:7-8 (NKJV Strong's)
“7 But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ.
8 Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my
Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain
Christ.”
Philippians 3:10 (NKJV Strong's)
“10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings,
being conformed to His death…”
THE POSITION & ATTITUDE OF THE RIGHTEOUS IN TRYING TIMES
Psalms 112 (NKJV Strong's)
“1 Praise the LORD!Blessed is the man who fears the LORD,Who delights greatly in His
commandments.
2 His descendants will be mighty on earth; The generation of the upright will be blessed.
3 Wealth and riches will be in his house,And his righteousness endures forever.
4 Unto the upright there arises light in the darkness; He is gracious, and full of compassion, and
righteous.
5 A good man deals graciously and lends; He will guide his affairs with discretion.
6 Surely he will never be shaken; The righteous will be in everlasting remembrance.
7 He will not be afraid of evil tidings; His heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD.
8 His heart is established; He will not be afraid,Until he sees his desire upon his enemies.
9 He has dispersed abroad,He has given to the poor; His righteousness endures forever; His horn
will be exalted with honor.
10 The wicked will see it and be grieved; He will gnash his teeth and melt away; The desire of the
wicked shall perish.”
• Don’t focus on just securing yourself and your future
• Continue to demonstrate your total dependence on God
• Continue to be a blessing to others
• Develop a deeper sense of Kingdom responsibility
Psalms 34:8 (NKJV)
“8 Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good;Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!”
Isaiah 40:29-31 (NKJV Strong's)
“29 He gives power to the weak,And to those who have no might He increases strength.
30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary,And the young men shall utterly fall,
31 But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings
like eagles,They shall run and not be weary,They shall walk and not faint.”
